GIA gives back

As the festive season draws near, the spirt of giving fills the air. At GIA, we embody this not only during the holidays, but all year long. Our focus to charity is deeply rooted in our values, and we proudly support causes that resonate with our team and communities. Here is a round-up of just some of the ways GIA gives back.

The Brain Tumour Charity

Back at the start of 2023 we chose the Brain Tumour Charity as our charity of the year. Close to the heart of our colleagues, we understand the significance of raising awareness, funding research, and providing support to those affected by brain tumours. Through various events including charity clothes shops and tombolas, we have been doing our bit throughout the year to raise much needed funds to create a brighter future for individuals and families facing this challenging condition.

Everymind at Work

Our team is the foundation of GIA, and their wellbeing is paramount. That’s why we partner with Everymind at Work to provide resources and support for mental health. This year we have held webinars looking at important subjects such as imposter syndrome, menopause at work, and balancing the stresses of work with our home lives. By fostering an environment that values mental wellbeing, we want to create a workplace where everyone feels supported, heard, and cared for. Through initiatives that promote work-life balance and mental wellness, we are looking after and building a resilient and thriving team.

Access Aspiration

As part of this initiative run by the Mayors Fund for London, we have participated in mock interviews, a design challenge competition, business insight days, and a work experience programme for students in London . We’ve learnt a lot from the students and have enjoyed seeing them explore our industry and connect their chosen A-level subjects to what we do.

Introducing the GIA Scholarship

This year, we launched the GIA Scholarship as part of Northumbria University’s Higher Education Without Barriers initiative. We are committed to funding scholarships for students interested in studying Architecture or Real Estate Surveying, with a specific focus on candidates from minority ethnic backgrounds. Together with the university, we aim to provide opportunities and break down barriers for aspiring students.

Celebrate with purpose

For the second year running, we are hosting a children’s Christmas event across our offices, bringing festive joy to our team members’ families. We have also embraced the fun tradition of Christmas Jumper Day which raises funds for Save the Children. These events are not only enjoyable but serve as a reminder of the impact we can make when we unite for a common cause.

Looking out for one another

At the heart of our ethos is the core value of looking out for one another. This extends beyond the workplace and influences everything we do. Whether it’s supporting charitable initiatives, fostering inclusivity with campaigns for International Women’s Day, Pride and Black History Month, or ensuring the wellbeing of our team; we strive to create a positive ripple effect that goes beyond the office and company.

Everyone at GIA looks forward to another year of giving back but for now; we wish you all health and happiness this festive season.
