GIA help secure planning permission for The Tulip

GIA has worked on this iconic project with Foster and Partners to secure a successful planning application given in April 2019.

We have consulted on The Tulip from the earliest feasibility stages, providing strategic advice, which informed the evolution of the proposal up to the planning submission in November 2018.

In addition, non-standard and more complex studies have been pivotal in preventing potential issues related to solar glare, solar convergence and light pollution.

The Tulip is a showcase for London’s world-leading expertise in architecture, culture, education and business, delivering a unique visitor attraction with economic benefits to The City, Greater London and Beyond.

The Tulip offers a free state-of-the-art education facility for London’s state school children aged 15-16. The proposal provides a memorable and informative experience for tourists about London’s history and dynamism.

The public realm at ground level will be increased and enhanced with green spaces in line with the City’s and the Mayor’s goals for better more inclusive public spaces.

From a height of approx 300 metres, visitors will be able to enjoy stunning panoramic views across Greater London. Gondola pod rides will transport visitors outside in a loop around The Tulips glass petals. A range of hospitality options will be offered.
