Building’s annual Top 150 Consultants sentiment survey paints a challenging picture of the year ahead. While consultants report improving margins and continued opportunities for growth, optimism around trading conditions has fallen sharply amid global upheaval, domestic uncertainty, and wider economic pressures.
The survey also highlights the accelerating role of AI. This year, 91% of consultants consider AI and machine learning to be “extremely” or “very” important to transforming their businesses, up from 89% in 2025. Meanwhile, 87% of firms report increasing their investment in AI.
