We are delighted to welcome Robert Bramwell-Carr as our newest Director and Head of Flood Risk & Drainage, a new service offering that further strengthens our expertise in climate resilience.
A Fellow of the Chartered Institution of Water and Environmental Management (CIWEM) and a Chartered Water and Environmental Manager, Robert joins GIA with extensive expertise in flood risk management, sustainable drainage, wastewater resilience, climate adaptation and blue-green infrastructure.
Throughout his career, Robert has worked with major organisations including the Environment Agency and United Utilities, supporting the delivery of complex infrastructure, development and environmental programmes. His experience spans the full project lifecycle, from strategic planning, feasibility and optioneering through to business case development, stakeholder engagement, technical delivery and major programme leadership.
Robert has led multidisciplinary teams on a wide range of projects, combining technical excellence with a pragmatic, commercially focused approach. His work has helped clients understand and manage risk, unlock development opportunities, shape investment decisions and respond to growing challenges around flooding, drainage capacity, environmental performance and climate change.
Notable programmes and projects supported by Robert include
- Providing development and masterplanning advice to support early-stage flood risk, drainage and climate resilience strategies, helping clients identify constraints, inform design decisions and unlock development potential.
- Supporting United Utilities’ Better Rivers Strategic Solutions programme, focused on wastewater resilience and combined sewer overflow (CSO) spill reduction.
- Delivering flood risk management and environmental enhancement schemes as part of the Environment Agency’s national capital programme.
- Supporting flood resilience asset programmes across central government organisations.
Robert also brings a strong digital focus to water and climate resilience. By combining technical expertise with spatial analysis, automation and enhanced visualisation techniques, he helps clients identify risks earlier, improve strategic planning and make more informed investment decisions, ultimately delivering more resilient outcomes for places, infrastructure and communities.
