GIA has been involved in the Camden Goodsyard development since 2016, supporting the design team in optimising internal Daylight & Sunlight amenity, impacts on neighbours, Solar Glare, and Rights of Light. This included a comprehensive research study on the potential daylight in the Camden area of London. This study was pioneering in its examination of urban density and daylight amenity and resulted in the project being granted permission based on alternative targets recommended for densification sites in the Housing SPG policies. The Council unanimously approved the project.
The Masterplan, developed by Allies and Morrison in collaboration with Piercy & Company and Niall McLaughlin Architects, was initially proposed by Barratt London, in conjunction with landowner Morrisons supermarket. The plan includes the construction of eight residential buildings, 300,000 sq ft of shopping space, and a small office space for start-up businesses.
St George later acquired the site and is currently implementing the Masterplan while coordinating the phasing and further optimisation of the plots.
