GIA provided consultancy, including Rights of Light, Daylight & Sunlight consultancy, and Wind Microclimate analysis, for the redevelopment of Digbeth Bus Garage in Birmingham. This mixed-use masterplan encompasses 6 plots on a 6-acre canal-side site. The development features 1,250 canal side homes, 950 student apartments, and 8,500 square meters of accessible public realm along 200 meters of canal frontage.
Phase 1 received full approval in December 2020, while the full masterplan obtained outline approval. GIA worked closely with the local authority and planners to include representative local schemes in the analysis, ensuring a development with pleasant microclimatic conditions year-round.
