Canary Wharf Group received outline planning permission in December 2014 for an exciting new Masterplan at Wood Wharf. GIA helped to deliver the masterplan, advising on daylight, sunlight, overshadowing, light pollution and solar glare.
The Masterplan will transform a vast semi-derelict 13ha site by delivering up to 3,610 new homes, a variety of business and retail units, hotel, leisure and recreational facilities, a new primary school and a doctor’s surgery, as well as 3.6 hectares of interconnected public spaces, including a kilometre of dock-edge walkways.
The scheme will expand the Canary Wharf estate into a mixed use working and living urban district. Works are ongoing in Phase I which coincide with the arrival of Crossrail in 2018 which will transform transport links across London.
GIA is providing ongoing consultancy in relation to the detailed design so as to ensure the future occupants will enjoy maximised levels of daylight and sunlight.
